When you have bought a property, here is the checklist:
- Do a final inspection of the property you buy within the 7 days prior to the settlement date as per the contract you have signed.
- Make arrangements with the agent/previous home owner to collect spare keys for your new home after settlement.

- Connect telephones and internet
- Connect electricity and gas
- Advise water supply department
- Advise local council
- Advise electoral office
- Notify post office, billers and subscriptions with new address
- Cover new house
(it is your responsibility to insure your home once you have paid the deposit)

- Advise taxation office and insurance office
- Advise bank/s and superannuation funds
- Advise child care centre, school/s and public library
- Notify motor registration branch of the new address for vehicle and driver license
- Notify friends, social clubs, and relatives of your new address
- Record new address with police department if you have a gun license
