  When you have bought a property, here is the checklist:

  • Do a final inspection of the property you buy within the 7 days prior to the settlement date as per the contract you have signed.

  • Make arrangements with the agent/previous home owner to collect spare keys for your new home after settlement.
 
  • Connect telephones and internet

  • Connect electricity and gas

  • Advise water supply department    

  • Advise local council

  • Advise electoral office

  • Notify post office, billers and subscriptions with new address

  • Cover new house
    (it is your responsibility to insure your home once you have paid the deposit)


  • Advise taxation office and insurance office

  • Advise bank/s and superannuation funds

  • Advise child care centre, school/s and public library

  • Notify motor registration branch of the new address for vehicle and driver license

  • Notify friends, social clubs, and relatives of your new address

  • Record new address with police department if you have a gun license
